Dr Simon Lindsay
Visionary-Analytic-Creative -Transformative
I am an education system leader, researcher, advisor and presenter on teacher knowledge and practice, teacher evidence, school effectiveness and large-scale system improvement. I manage the Improved Learning Outcomes division at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS), leading the full flourishing of students and teachers within the largest Catholic diocese in the world, Archdiocese of Melbourne.
I am an analytic advisor to state and national education bodies in the area of education data and evidence, including serving on the International Assessment Joint National Advisory Committee (IAJNAC) advising on PISA, TIMSS and PIRLS.
My driving belief is that every student is entitled to discover the thing that makes their life fulfilling. And therefore I am on a quest to support teaching which is genuinely responsive to the talents that young people have, and to support precise teaching which seeks out and utilizes all the available evidence of each individual to progress their specific traits and strengths.
My mission is to build a culture of teaching where teachers share their wisdom in community, where teachers have the time and space to create value and improvement from within the profession.
I received a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Monash University, conducted studies in Innovation Management at University of Queensland Business School, and recently completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Education) on the use of story in sharing teacher knowledge. In 2020, I was award the Jeff Northfield Memorial Award for Excellence in Teacher Research.
